Prize Rules

1. The overall game winner and Champion Investor will be the player with the highest value portfolio at the end of the game.
2. Prizes will be awarded each calendar month to the player whose portfolio has risen by the highest percentage that month.
3. Rankings will be updated daily from midnight onwards. Overall Game Ranking is based on the overall portfolio value at the time of evaluation. Monthly Game Ranking is based on the percentage change in overall portfolio value in that calendar month.

4. In the event of a tie, MoneyAM and Shares Magazine will judge the 'Champion Investor' to be the player with the best percentage performance in the last calendar month before game expiry. For the monthly prize, if there is a tie, the winner will be the person who performed the best in the previous month. The judge's decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
5. Winners will be notified by email.
6. All participants agree that MoneyAM and Shares Magazine may use photographs of the winners and publish the name of the winners for publicity purposes only. The winners will be deemed to consent to the use of their names and likeness for publicity and commercial purposes without further compensation.
7. There is no cash alternative available.
8. £1000 worth of demo winnings are allocated to a demo account for spreadbetting for 3 months. You can not lose anything at all. At the end of 3 months your winnings can be turned into cash, or they can be credited to a real WS account. You can then draw this out at any time after the 3 months as long as you have fulfilled the next rule. Max cash winnings are £1000 capped as cash or £2000 if you are the overall winner of the competition.
9. There must be a minimum of 10 bets in a month, at a minimum of £5/point on their demo account to be eligible for any winnings. Trades must be held for a minimum of 20 minutes, and not just in/out trades.
10. If the winner attempts to open an account at WorldSpreads and is not eligible or is declined, the winner will receive no prize.
11. In winning any of the Champion Investor prizes there is no obligation to accept the prize.
12. In accepting the prize, the winner is under no obligation to make any trades but will forfeit the right to receive the prize if sufficient trades are not made as per (9).
13. The prize cannot be withdrawn as cash before three months, and only if rule 11 has been met.
14. In opening an account with WorldSpreads the winner will agree to be bound by the separate Terms and Conditions of business of WorldSpreads.
15. If the winner opens an account at WorldSpreads and then subsequently closes it before 3 months have elapsed, the winner will not be entitled to claim the prize as cash regardless of the number or size of trades made.
16. The winner must claim the prize within four weeks.
17. In order to claim the prize you will be required to apply for a trading account at WorldSpreads.
18. You may be required to provide documentary evidence before an account is opened and will be contacted by WorldSpreads customer service if this is the case.
19. In certain circumstances the prize winners application to open a WorldSpreads account may be declined and WorldSpreads will be under no obligation to provide a reason for this.
20. Risk Warning: Remember that spread trading is a leveraged product and can result in losses that exceed your initial deposit. It may not be suitable for everyone, so please make sure you understand the risks involved.

Entry Rules

1. Players must provide a valid email address, postal address, postcode and contact details in order to enter and participate in the game and to qualify for the prizes.

2. Players must be 18 years of age or over.

3. Players must be resident in the UK.

4. Players must be a 'Private Investor' (see below for Private Investor definition). By signing up to join the game, each player confirms that they fit the Private Investor criteria displayed below. This game is not available for 'Professional' users.

5. The following persons are not eligible to enter the game: officers, employees, agents or contractors of MoneyAM, Shares or game Sponsor(s) : a partner, parent, brother, sister or child of a person otherwise excluded above.

6. To be eligible for prizes, each player may only have one entry in the game. MoneyAM and Shares Magazine reserve the right to exclude any player with multiple entries.

7. Any player found to be exploiting or benefiting from any bugs or data anomalies within the game will be disqualified immediately.

8. Any player registering or attempting to register for the game who does not comply with the above conditions of entry will be disqualified from participation in the game.

9. As part of the terms and conditions of your entering the game, you agree to be kept informed by email about the game, new promotions, products and services from MoneyAM, Shares Magazine and the game sponsor(s). We will not send any other third party emails to you. Should you wish to be taken off the email list you, you may request this, but it will automatically disqualify you from receiving a prize.

10. As part of your entry to the Champion Investor game you will be offered the opportunity by the sponsor World Spreads to take part in an offer to receive a cash balance in a World Spreads account. This offer is made solely by World Spreads and all the terms and conditions for this offer will be at the sole discretion and liability of World Spreads. Neither MoneyAM nor Shares Magazine shall have any liability directly or indirectly for this offer nor for any lost profits, indirect, special or consequential.

General Rules

Champion Investor is an internet game provided by MoneyAM and Shares Magazine.

1. Each player is allocated £100,000 as an initial virtual fund.

2. To validate your entry, you must open at least two positions (long or short) in different companies, each position must be for a minimum of £10,000 and maximum of £50,000 each.

3. After the initial validation, a user can have as many or as few open positions as they want, after the initial validation a user will not be restricted to the minimum of £10,000 per trade.

4. Players can be either long or short a stock.

5. Cash will not earn interest.

6. Dividends payments will be taken into account.

7. Each transaction will incur a virtual £10 'transaction charge'.

8. Buy orders will incur virtual stamp duty at 0.5%.

9. Holdings as well as liquid funds (cash holdings with realised profits and losses) are part of the total value.

10. Trade ticket prices quoted will be based on the market prices at the time of your request.

11. Trades outside normal market hours will be filled at the going market price at or around 8.10 am on the next trading day.

12. Trades will be restricted to three times Normal Market Size.

13. No guarantees are made for the accuracy of quotations.

14. The players' usernames, rankings and total value are public - that means everybody (also non-players) can access this information.

15. MoneyAM and Shares Magazine cannot be held liable for system failures on the website or on data supply and processing. To the fullest extent that may be excluded by law MoneyAM and Shares magazine accepts no responsibility for or liability arising from participants taking part in the game or howsoever arising and all activities are undertaken at the participants own risk.

16. MoneyAM are the Data Source Provider, they nor any third party licensor shall have any liability for the accuracy or completeness of the information or software used in this game, or for delays, interruptions or omissions therein nor for any lost profits, indirect, special or consequential.

General Terms and Conditions

MoneyAM and Shares Magazine and all other companies or parties involved in the Game's promotion ensure that any personal data collected will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. All data collected will only be held by MoneyAM and Shares and will not be shared with any third party.

MoneyAM and Shares Magazine reserve the right to:

1. Change the game rules at any time.

2. End the game at any time and without a compelling reason. In this case prizes for the month may no longer be distributed.

3. Exclude any player from the game or from receiving any prizes for any reason.

4. MoneyAM and Shares will apply reasonable endeavours to ensure the provision and running of the game. Players accept that MoneyAM, Shares and its sponsor(s) and their officers, employees, agents and contractors shall not, directly or indirectly, be liable or responsible, in any way, for any (1) late, lost or delayed registrations, instructions or communications; or (2) website, network, computer hardware, software or telecom failures or problems of any kind; or (3) any inaccuracies or errors in or omission of any information or data; or (4) any delays or errors in the transmission or delivery of any part of the game; or (5) any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from any of the above.

5. MoneyAM and Shares reserve the right to exclude any player it finds: (1) to have tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of the operation of game; (2) to have acted in breach of the Rules or the spirit of the game; (3) to have acted in an unsportsmanlike manner or with intent to annoy, abuse or harass any other person participating or otherwise involved in this game; (4) to have provided any false information; (5) to have made use of confidential information about any of the securities in which the game is trading or disclosing such information to any other Player; (6) to have manipulated actual security prices directly or indirectly in any way whatsoever in order to influence the game; or (7) to have made any attempt to hack into or otherwise damage any game.

Private Investor category:

DETERMINING WHETHER YOU ARE A PRIVATE INVESTOR:
For regulatory purposes, you are a private investor if you meet all of the following critera for the entire term of your subscription.
1.	You are subscribing to the service in a personal capacity.
2.	You are not currently registered or qualified as a professional securities trader or investment adviser with any national or state exchange, regulatory authority, professional association or recognized professional body.
3.	You do not currently act in any capacity as an investment advisor, whther or not you have at some time been qualified to do so.
4.	You use the service solely in relation to the management of your personal funds and not as a trader to the public or to the investment of corporate funds.
5.	You do not distribute, republish or otherwise provide any data from the service to any third party in any matter.
6.	The data change is designed to cover individuals and will be maintained in the customer's name and not in the company name - the exception to this would be a share club operating on a non- professional basis.
You are not a private investor if you do not meet any one of the criteria outlined above.

* Contention is a system we use to limit the number of free streaming users we have at any one time. When you initially log onto a streaming service you enter a queue. As the next person logs onto the service you move along the queue. When you get to the end of the queue you are automatically logged off.
